PUBLISHING A COMMEMORATIVE BOOK
IS NOT THE TIME TO EXPERIMENT.

A commemorative book can be a large and complex publishing project. Developing and producing complex books is time consuming. They need full-time management and require a variety of hard-earned, specialized skills. This is not a good time to learn on the job.

If you wish you had smart, seasoned book professionals ready to go to work for you right now — then Bravo Books is for you.

OUR STAFF ALREADY HAS THE EXPERIENCE.

We've trained for years in traditional book publishing. Our key personnel have been department heads, institute instructors, publishers, and industry leaders. If you need the A-Team, we're it!

HERE'S AN OVERVIEW OF HOW WE DEVELOP AND PRODUCE BOOKS

UNDERSTANDING YOUR NEEDS
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)
We meet with you to listen and learn; to discuss possibilities; to discover creative assets you may already have; to provide information. Prior to the first meeting, we'll send you a memo about the things we'd like to discuss with you. It often takes more than one meeting to really understand what will work best. There is no charge for these preliminary meetings.

DRAFTING THE PROPOSAL
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

We draft a comprehensive proposal for your review and approval. This proposal will discuss in detail the book that we'll be creating for you. If you are supplying any creative assets (such as some writing, photographs, or artwork), we will record that contribution. We will itemize processes, costs, and we'll suggest timelines. We will discuss the proposal and revise it as needed.

We make sure that the proposal includes as many contingencies as we can foresee, so that you will know total project budgets. There is no charge for our work through the proposal stage. If you accept the proposal, we launch your book!

DEVELOPING THE BOOK CONCEPT
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

Our core management and development team goes to work: drafting key concepts for the book; conceiving designs; outlining the story to be told. We present these developmental concepts for the book for your review and approval before we proceed.

BUILDING THE CREATIVE TEAM
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

Once we have an approved conceptual outline for the book, we assemble the right people to get the project under way. The creative team may consist of our researchers, writers, editors, photographers, illustrators, book designers, indexers, proofreaders — and — we will collaborate with any creative personnel that you are providing to the project. Bravo Books managers will set a plan and timeline for all creative team members, and supervise the work to ensure that our high standards are maintained.

RESEARCH, WRITING, AND EDITING
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

The heart and soul of any book is how the story is told. We ferret out the details, the anecdotes, the special images. We craft a manuscript that tells the story in our book outline, that captures the spirit and personality of the enterprise, and does so with compelling, accessible language. The manuscript is submitted to you for review and to our editors for shaping of grammar, sense, structure, and accuracy.

ART: PHOTOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATION
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

Our books usually have a strong visual component to help tell the story. We use archival and contemporary photographs and illustrations from our clients' collections, or we acquire necessary images from public respositories, private collections, and museums. When needed, we send our photographers to capture current imagery to complete the visual components.

BOOK DESIGN AND PRODUCTION
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

This is where all the work that's gone before comes together, and the magic of the master plan becomes apparent. The final, edited manuscript and the collections of art are sensitively and artfully introduced into the pages of the book. Extra care is taken by our designers to make each book element unique and special. Once page and cover designs are assembled, we present proofs to you for your review and approval. After we revise as needed, our composed book pages are often submitted to our indexers and always to our proofreaders. The finished product is a near-perfect, master prototype of your book.

BOOK MANUFACTURING
(RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE)

We ship our master prototype to the most appropriate book plant. We have manufacturing relationships with leading book printers and binderies around the world, and we ensure that our specifications for materials and processes are maintained. We review and correct printing proofs and manage the entire manufacturing process. Once finished books are ready, we also arrange for specialty packaging and handle the shipping details.
